Volumetric datasets often contain far more information than is needed for any given purpose. To get a clearer understanding of the datasets, it can be useful to eliminate some of the redundant information. For example, a CT scan of the heart will typically be occluded by the ribs and other surrounding structures.

The volume of interest feature lets you define a cropping box around the region of data that you would like to examine more closely. The SDK then hides voxels that fall outside of that box, allowing you to easily focus only on the data that is useful.
